Starling Perez Convicted of Murder!
This morning, a man was convicted of murder in the courtroom of Justice Antoinette Moore in the Supreme Court southern district session. Almost three years to the day after he was arrested and charged for the murder of Dangriga fisherman, Carlos Reyes, twenty-eight-year-old Starling Perez was found guilty in a trial without a jury. The Crown presented that in court that on March twenty-seventh, 2019, Perez traveled from Belize City to Dangriga where he stayed overnight. The following day he and another man visited the residence of forty-year-old Carlos Reyes in Dangriga where Perez accosted Reyes in his yard. Perez produced a firearm from his waist and shot Reyes several times. Reyes died on the spot. Perez traveled by boat back to Belize City. The case was prosecuted by Crown Counsel Riis Cattouse and Perez was defended by attorney Arthur Saldivar.
