Fire destroys building at San Pedro hotel
A fire at San Pedro last night is reported to have destroyed one of the buildings at Captain Morgan’s Retreat. Around 7:45 both the upper and lower flats of the pimento building were gutted by the fire which started in the northwest corner of the building. Police say the manager Yolanda Sabido, who lived in the upper flat, escaped unhurt. The lower level was being used as a storeroom. The San Pedro Fire Department believes the fire started from a leak in the fuel line of a butane water heater. The damage is estimated at three hundred thousand dollars. The building was insured.
