Cashier’s sister detained in B.T.L. robbery
Police have detained the sister and brother-in law of former B.T.L. cashier, Harrison Collins, the man police believe stole over sixty-two thousand dollars in cash, checks and phone cards earlier this month. An arrest warrant has been issued for Collins but Head of C.I.B. Simeon Alvarez told News Five they do not believe he is still in Belize City. Collins had been held for questioning after the theft was first discovered, but was released after the seventy two-hour limit ran out. Alvarez says police are questioning the sister and her husband following reports the couple may have received some of the stolen money. The money and tele-cards were supposed to have been deposited in the B.T.L. Church Street office on Saturday, January ninth, but when employees checked the safe on Monday the five deposit bags were missing. Harrison Collins was one of two cashiers who had worked that Saturday.
