Siew says he supports the Chinese in Belize
On Saturday, Prime Minister Said Musa held a joint press conference with the Prime Minister of Taiwan Vincent C. Siew. A memorandum of understanding was signed committing both governments to the development of a trade agreement. Among the issues addressed at the press conference were plans for follow-up visits by members of the business delegation and the one hundred million dollar housing project being funded by Taiwan over the next five years. Since many of the Chinese living in Belize are from mainland China, News Five asked Prime Minister Siew how he views the Chinese living in Belize who are not from Taiwan, but the People’s Republic of China.
Vincent C. Siew, Prime Minister, Taiwan
“Any, any Chinese living in this country, I think that, who are here through the principal of freedom and democracy will be, I hope that will be, the same as our people. So we would like to have coordination with them, no matter whether we represent them or not. I must say from what we have learned the Chinese community here, they are all for freedom and democracy. So we, we support them; we support them. We wish them every success in this country.”
