Three bodies found off English Caye
This afternoon police received a phone call from the Port Authority that an abandoned boat with bodies aboard had been discovered a mile and a half south, southeast of English Caye. The Port Authority says that two of their boatmen went out on a search this afternoon and called to report that they found two men tied together on the skiff and when they went underwater they found a third man tied to the boat. The name of the skiff is the “S. Kelly”. It is reported to be white and brown with a blue interior. Two of the men have been identified as Emil Franklin and Lyndon Raymond better known as “Bubbles”. The other man has yet to be identified. News Five spoke to a member of the search party just after the boats came in.
Elsworth Williams, Boatman
“When we were called out there nothing much happened, we just find the boat up, stand down, body floating.”
Q: “How many bodies?”
Elsworth Williams
“Three. Well two were floating; we didn’t see the third one. When we went back there was three tied to the skiff there.”
Q: “So it wasn’t something they did themselves?”
Elsworth Williams
“No, they couldn’t.”
The bodies were brought in this evening to the Port Authority. Franklin and his crew had been arrested and charged for the theft of a boat belonging to Charles Garbutt. Garbutt and his family went missing en route to English Caye last month. Police say they are investigating.
