Hopkins Arson Under Investigation
Last night we told you about the case of arson at Ella’s Cool Spot in Hopkins Village. Investigators are on the ground gathering evidence in hopes of identifying the perpetrator. They are even looking at a physical altercation that was caught on camera between Ella Carr and neighbouring businessman Bernard Nunez. And while, in an exclusive with News Five on Tuesday, Nunez sought to distance himself from the arson, today Commissioner of Police Chester Williams told reporters that Nunez is a part of their investigation as a suspect.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“From what we are seeing it is a case of arson. Our investigators have been on the ground looking at all the evidence that do exist, including the video footage that is there. Unfortunately, the video footage is not clear enough to be able to identify who the person is. We are going to employ everything we can to ascertain who that person is and once we can ascertain that person’s identity we move forward from there.”

“We know that the talk in the village is that there is a dispute and there is a video showing her, Ms Ella disputing with um, somebody who…”

“A competing neighbor”
Reporter
“So, is he a suspect?”
Chester Williams
“Well, everyone is a suspect at this time. So, certainly because they had a dispute as competing neighbors in the same business that certainly brings him into the fray as a suspect.”
