The long anticipated return of KTV the Remix is finally here. Auditions for the 2022 season will be held on Saturday and Sunday from nine a.m. to three p.m., right here at our Channel Five studio on Coney Drive in Belize City. “Definitely, I am excited. And, based on the feedback that I get from people on a regular basis, when it is coming back, I think people are thirsty for entertainment, good wholesome entertainment that you can sit around on a weeknight and enjoy. KTV is known, whether I was just KTV or the Remix, is known for highlighting things that are Belizean. Even though they are covers songs, which is karaoke, you often see the talents that are out there. And very often, those who participate in KTV go on to have a very successful career as an artist in their own right. When you come to audition you have to take the point of view that listen, just do the best that you can do, go for it, and just be your best self. Very often we are accused as Belizeans of just imitating others. Originality usually wins out, because I think that is what people want to see, that personality, that authenticity, and people connect with that. You can’t pretend. Television is one of those things where you can’t be wearing short pants in a rainy setting and talking about the sun, because people see exactly what is happening. So, the magic of television is that you have that instant kind of instant interaction, and feedback, and so forth. And, the fact that we have evolved and added social media makes it even more instantaneous. I just want to tell people, come on out, give it a shot. It is the best thing you can do if you are an artist, because it really tests whether you are truly on a path to becoming a great artist. Belizeans can be brutal but they can also be very loving. And, when they embrace you, it is one of the most wonderful feelings.”
