High command changes announced
The Ministry of National Security has announced some changes to the police high command today. After serving for five years as Assistant Commissioner, Hughington Williams has been promoted to Acting Deputy Commissioner. He has been a member of the department since 1967 and was most recently the commander of Eastern Division. Senior Superintendent Raymond Thimbrel will now be Acting Assistant Commissioner. Thimbrel has been a police officer since 1966. Superintendent Gerald Westby has been promoted to the rank of Acting Senior Superintendent and Commander of Operations. Westby joined the department in 1975. The Ministry has also announced the retirement of Deputy Commissioner of Police Lester Garnett who just recently completed thirty years of service. A chaplain, Monsignor Dorick Wright, has also been appointed for the force.
