Bus employee killed in accident
An accident on the Western Highway this afternoon has claimed the life of a Novelo’s Bus Company employee and involved two of the company’s buses. Reports are that shortly after one p.m. a Novelo’s bus was traveling west but stopped between miles 7 and 8 so that ticket collector Samuel Hennis could get off and board the approaching eastbound Novelo’s bus. Hennis reportedly got off and ran across the road, but rather than stopping to pick him up the other bus hit him. Hennis was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial where he died. Police say they are investigating the incident to determine who was at fault.
