J.P. apprehends bike thief

Eighteen year old Dalton Reneau was sent to prison for theft today after he was apprehended by a Justice of the Peace. On Monday evening J.P. Thomas Greenwood was in the Yarborough area when he saw a little boy weeping. He asked the boy what was wrong and he told him he had been riding his BMX bicycle when a man pulled out a knife and demanded the bike. The little boy who was terrified got off his bicycle and ran. Tom Greenwood offered to help the boy find his BMX and about ten minutes after the boy got into Greenwood’s van he saw Dalton Reneau on his bicycle on Central American Boulevard. J.P. Greenwood apprehended Reneau and called police. After Reneau was taken into custody he gave a false name. Today in Magistrate’s Court Reneau was given five years and four months in prison for one count of robbery and committing a mischievous act. But the story of Dalton Reneau does not end here… Police say that Reneau admitted to stealing a number of gold chains and other gold accessories.

A.I.P. Simeon Alvarez, Head of C.I.B.

“Reneau also told us that whenever he got hold of these jewelry he usually committed the crime in the night between seven to nine in the night. Why not in the day? He said he would be easily identified. He would ride pass on his bicycle and grab the chain from off the person. According to Reneau he said that he usually attacks Spanish people.”

Alvarez says that Reneau committed the robberies around Euphrates Avenue, the Newtown Barracks Area, Lopez Mateos Park and around Roger’s Stadium. He says Reneau had a friend pawn the stolen items at the Jewelry Exchange Center. Alvarez says Reneau’s friend pocketed the money and then sold the receipts to innocent people for $20. Police say they are asking anyone whose jewelry was recently stolen in these vicinities to come in to the C.I.B. office and identify your property. Police also say that there will be additional charges brought against Reneau as a result of the jewelry retrieved.
