An Alleged Gunman is Charged for the Murder of Benjamin Hyde Sr.

Twenty-one-year-old Damion Saldano is spending his first night on remand at the Belize Central Prison after being arraigned this afternoon for the Father’s Day murder of Benjamin Hyde Senior. He is the third suspect to be charged and taken before the Magistrate’s Court in connection with the deadly shooting on June nineteenth in Belize City. Saldano, a stevedore of a Plues Street address, has been identified as the alleged gunman.  He appeared unrepresented before Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts-Anderson where he was read two charges, including murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Due to the nature of the offenses he is accused of committing, bail was not granted to Saldano. It is alleged that Saldano, along with Shemaud Nunez and Azzane Domingo acted in concert when they carried out the mid-afternoon murder of Benjamin Hyde at the corners of East Canal and King Street. The trio of suspects will appear together on for their next court date which is set for August twenty-fourth.
