Popular San Ignacio Employee Killed in Traffic Accident
And the third senior citizen to perish in a traffic accident over the past three days was a popular employee for the San Ignacio Town Council. Herman Valdez was carrying out his daily cleaning of the streets in downtown San Ignacio this morning when a dark blue S.U.V. careened down a hill and knocked down Valdez and his wheelbarrow before crashing into a parked vehicle. While the police are still putting together the details of this incident, A.S.P. Fitzroy Yearwood says investigators need help in identifying the victim of another road traffic accident in southern Belize that occurred on Saturday.

“That person received severe head and body injuries and we have sent out a flyer of some of the tattoos that were seen on his body, hoping that we could identify him. Someone came forward and claimed to have known that person, but after seeing the identification card that was presented to our investigators, the person on the ground is of Hispanic descent – fair complexion – and the ID card that was presented to our officers is that of a person with my complexion, dark complexion. So we’re still asking for the general public’s assistance in trying to identify John Doe.”
