Courts hands over $50,000 check to Serious Cash II winner
What would you do with over forty thousand dollars if someone handed it to you? Well, tonight the winner of the final Courts Serious Cash Two Draw is thinking that question over very carefully. Camille Estell picked up her check this morning. The lucky winner told News Five how she found out she had won the fifty thousand dollar prize and what she plans to do with the money, after of course the taxes are paid.
Camille Estell, $50,000 Winner
“I had a call from Anna Marie Bennett from Courts. She began by saying that she was just calling me because my account was in arrears. I knew that was not so; definitely not so. So, I got kind of worried because I knew that the draw was coming up and I knew that my account had to be okay if I had any chance at all. So I told her no, no, no that was not possible and I don’t know how it sound to her but she immediately said, “I was just kidding. We had our draw and you are the winner.”
I am thinking right now. I have a lot of ideas but I know a portion will definitely will be towards the construction of a house.”
Estell’s ticket was chosen from among six hundred thousand entries. While Serious Cash Two Draws are now over for Courts Belize, Managing Director Keith Slater told us what the new promotion will be like for 1999.
Keith Slater, Managing Director, Courts Belize
“This year we are running a promotion called Millenium Mania because we are running up to the close of the century. We thought that was a very happening name. So this year it will be based along the lines that people are familiar with and cash based as well. This year the prizes are going to be worth over a hundred and twenty-six thousand dollars total.
We are going to have prizes for each branch, each quarter. Each person shopping in San Ignacio or Orange Walk will win from that branch a quarterly prize. Secondly we are going to pay the government taxes and duties this year. So if you win fifty thousand you will get fifty thousand.”
Slater says that Courts Belize relies heavily on its customers so they are doing their best to give back to the community. He says the earlier you shop at Courts the better your chance of winning. Hyacinth Latchman for News Five.
