Flag from roundabout found
It appears as if the case of the missing Belizean flag has been solved. According to police it was a little girl who observed the theft and alerted her father, who happens to be a police officer. According to Assistant Superintendent of Police, David Henderson, he and his young daughter, Fiona were coming from a football game around five forty-five Sunday evening when Fiona noticed a man lowering the National Flag at the roundabout. Henderson says he watched as a man put the flag and its rope inside a sack and rode off on his bicycle down Freetown Road. Henderson says he followed the man, stopped him and asked him why he had taken down the flag. Henderson says he simply responded: “I just felt like taking the flag and rope.” Fifty-three year old Orlando Vasquez was taken over to Magistrate’s Court this afternoon and charged with theft and committing a mischievous act. Marlon McNab of the Scouts Association tells News Five the police told him they hope to move the case along so the Scouts can have back their flag. Thanks to little Fiona, the mystery of the missing flag is solved.
