Geovanni Brackett, the ‘Saving Grace’ of the Government Press Office

Prime Minister Briceño was also asked about his administration’s decision to hire activist and part-time journalist Geovanni Brackett as an information consultant in the Press Office. In his response, the prime minister said he believes Brackett’s employment to be a necessary hiring. He explained that Brackett was brought on to figure out the best ways in which the press office can, “operate in a more modern day of almost instant news”.

“When it comes to the issue of Geovanny Brackett, we all know that he has been a journalist and he has been also a person trying to go for social change, especially with young people. I mean he has been very open about that. After we got into government he came in and we spoke with him and we believe that he can assist us in the Press Office to kinda change the mindset of the Press Office. How is it that we can operate in a more modern day of almost instant news. So, he has been doing some work there. But also, he has been doing some work with Minister Dolores Balderamos and also with Minister Musa, doing some social interventions. So, we do believe that it was the right decision to be able to bring him in, to be able to help with the work with the government.”
