…But if elected, Chubby has 7 point plan to manage city

But while Reneau explained the scholarship fraud, he also took time to outline his team’s plan to govern the city. The city, according to Reneau, will be managed based on a seven-point plan. The mayoral aspirant outlined the key issues of his platform.

Dr Cecil “Chubby” Reneau, P.U.P. Mayoral Candidate, Belize City
“Those problems are mainly garbage collection and disposal. It is a citywide problem. The other problem is one of drainage and coupled with that is the condition of over three hundred miles of roads and streets within the city. They are in total disrepair. But the primary problem is one of mismanagement of over fifty million dollars over the three-year life of this present council. That is at the core of our plan to refocus attention on the management and services that we as a council will provide to the residents of this city. One of the points of our agenda is to take a serious look at traffic, parking facilities, especially in the downtown area, partnering with the banks that don’t use their parking areas at certain time in the night; partner with them. We will come up with a twenty-year plan of development for Belize City. Myself and my councilors will reduce our allowances by fifty percent. That is a savings of over two hundred and fifty thousand dollars in the first year alone. Multiply that by three. That savings will be converted to low paying jobs for persons in those same areas; that they can help to take care of their community. Had the U.D.P., in the first year of their term, seriously considered the repairing of the streets and had done it the way we are proposing that we will do it, maybe they would have been able to list accomplishments. They have failed.”
