Duo Charged for Rape of Minor
Two Belize City men have been remanded to the Belize Central Prison for a most heinous crime. Ronald Michael and Herman Grant were charged separately for the rape of a child when they appeared before Chief Magistrate Sharon Fraser. Reports are that the fourteen-year-old minor was raped by both men on July seventh and then again two days later by Michael on July ninth. It is reported that Michael also threatened the minor’s life and that of her family, if she had reported the sexual encounter. So on arraignment today, Grant was charged with one single count of rape, while Michael was charged with two counts of rape of a child and one count of threatening words upon the victim. No plea was taken and due to the nature of the offense, the men were remanded until September nineteenth, 2022. Because the charge is indictable, the matter will be dealt with at the Supreme Court. In a report made by the minor, the first incident occurred around seven-thirty p.m., where both men, who she knew, drove up beside her in a car with green license plate. She claims that Grant forced her into the vehicle and then they drove off with her into the Buttonwood Bay area. She was taken into a house where they had intercourse with her against her will. Police later reviewed information of the two attackers which led to the apprehension of Michael and Grant. Today, both men claim they were innocent of the allegations. Neither of the accused men was represented during arraignment.
