This is the location where Randy Xol hemorrhaged to death after being stabbed to the neck by at least one person, just before midnight on Saturday. The twenty-year-old resident of Bella Vista Village was attacked and murdered after he left a Chinese restaurant in the village where he had been socializing. The family found out about his killing on Sunday morning. Elena Choko says that the entire family is heartbroken by the murder of her son.
Elena Choko, Mother of Deceased
“What they have done to me and my family and what they have done my son, it is a great sorry from the bottom on my heart. Losing my son and he doesn’t owe nobody and he doesn’t give no trouble to nobody. They walk down the street and I am living here for twelve years on this farmland. I always advise my kids, don’t rob anybody, don’t hurt anybody, don’t go attack anybody; don’t steal anything from adults, young children – walk straightly. My advice is every day as morning breaks, I tell my children when they go to work each one of them. Every morning, I pray for them that God will help me to guide them in a good living in this world, but I neva know that the devil was there behind to come and attack me of killing my son.”
The murder weapon, described as a pocket knife with an orange handle, was recovered near the scene and reports are that the main suspect has been taken into police custody.
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Director, Belize Police Department
“Several stab wounds were observed to Mister Xol’s body. We know that investigators reveal that Mister Xol was socializing in front of a Chinese establishment earlier on Saturday night. It is believed that he got into an argument out there which may have led to his demise. We know that investigators are following on several leads and hopefully if we apprehend these persons that he was socializing with, we might be able to answer some of these questions that we are left with.”

“So at this time no one is detained?”
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood
“Well they have several persons detained and they are following several leads.”
News Five confirmed today that Randy’s life had been threatened on multiple occasions in the past month; the most recent incident was on July thirteenth, three days before he was killed. His mother recounts the threats leading up to the murder.
“This is not the first time that they do this. Anytime my kids travel the road, they stop them, they curse them. But as a mother, I take everything, I don’t rush to pick problem. I take everything easy and I lef it in God’s hand. OUT 06:09
IN 12:18 my son told me when he attacked me the second time, I knocked him on the nose and when he dropped on the floor he faint. And his sister run (PLEASE TAKE OUT NAME), run to us and hurry told me, bwai you don’t know who is that person; that person just come from Hattieville, you know that that person done kill somebody and he will soon kill you.”

“Why would they threaten your son or try to harm you people?”
Elena Choko
“That is the problem; that was my question. We don’t owe nobody, we don’t owe nothing to nobody so I don’t know what is the problem.”
Despite the detention of the main suspect, the Xol family fears that they will not be safe. Choko wants justice for the death of her son and makes a plea to the police.
Elena Choko
“I don’t want this to continue in this village. You know why, these people will come out tomorrow or next month and they will continue. Even though it might not be my kid again, but it could be somebody else to do the same thing. So what I ask is if there is a way that these people may stay forever in that place, it would be better for the community, for me and for the rest of the people to stay in peace. Having the most criminal people in this area that police can’t control. They can’t control because why when you give a report, police are right there drunk in those bars. They are drunk. Even if they get some calls, they reach to the people drunk. What police could do like that, what a better country we could have like that, what a good community we would have in Bella Vista like that. When things happen like this, they can’t bring back people life. They can’t give me what I have lost. They could bring anything, full up some papers, that will never fulfill my heart, my sorry and my pain.”
