City Council invites public to Christmas concert
The Belize City Council will tomorrow night hold its annual Christmas Concert in front of the commercial center. One of the night’s main attractions will be awards given out to outstanding Belizeans who the council believes need to be recognized in some way.
Danny Madrid, City Councilor
“Our first is for Peyrefitte Brothers whom have helped the citizens of Belize through the Belize City Council. Also we decided that the B.D.F. and the police force. Why we are doing that is because during Hurricane Mitch the B.D.F. and police were patrolling our streets day and night during the rain protecting our lives and property. So we believe they deserve to be awarded. We also thought that Dr. Bernard Bulwer should be awarded this certificate. He gave up his time in service at the K.H.M.H. and visited hurricane shelters taking care of people who were sick or were sick. We also look at and thought it was time to award a radio and television announcer and we thought that Patrick Jones did a wonderful job to keep the nation informed and he will also be awarded. As usual we look at our young people, sports people and we picked “Jawmaine” Meighan for his contribution in sports.”
The Heavenly Gospel Band, a clown and of course Santa Claus will be attractions at tomorrow’s Christmas program. Madrid says it is also a chance for citizens to meet the members of the Belize City Council.
