Belizean delegation attends transport conference
A delegation headed by Minister of Public Utilities, Transportation and Communications, Maxwell Samuels attended a Western Hemisphere Transportation Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana last week. The conference’s main objective was to develop a transportation system that supports increased economic and social development, trade and tourism. According to the government press office, Minister Samuels raised concerns regarding the lack of reciprocal treatment of Belizean transport operators in Mexico. The Mexican Secretary of Communications and Transportation Carlos Ruiz suggested that the two countries meet to discuss the matter. Members of Belize’s delegation were Pablo Espat of the Airports Authority, Michael Williams of Eurocaribe, three representatives from Gilharry’s Bus Company and two from Novelo’s Bus Service.
