First Ever CODICADER Physical Education Congress
Beginning today at the Biltmore Plaza in Belize City, technical sports experts from across the Central American region, except for Panama, converged for the first-of-its-kind Physical Education Congress. CODICADER is the sports arm of SICA, the Central American Integration System, and the objective of the conference is to identify and share a structured curriculum for physical education at the primary, secondary and tertiary level across the region. News Five spoke today with Deputy Director of the National Sports Council, Marvin Ottley.
Marvin Ottley, Deputy Director, National Sports Council
“Belize had the presidency for CODICADER for two years, but it was for those two years in COVID. What was instructed is that the technical people for CODICADER decide on a work plan for a physical education congress. The main objective is so that Central American countries could share one document on what is physical education within the region. That is the main objective. The other objective is for us that there should be some change in the curriculum that will help to improve with physical education at the primary, high school and tertiary level. For today and tomorrow, it is presentation from all the countries and what they will do is take all those presentations and work to see how they can create a document or a paper that will basically get presented to the ministers in Central America and then that will become a document that we will work with.”
