Belcan Bridge and Xunantunich ferry to close for repairs

While the Ministry of Works continues the refurbishing of the Belize City Swing Bridge, they are scheduling some work on the Belcan. But before you moan and groan about the traffic tangle that will cause, relax because according to the Ministry this work will be carried out at night and early morning. Tonight, tomorrow and Sunday nights from eleven to four a.m. the Belcan will be closed so the contractor can test the motor and calibration of the electrical system. So this time only the real night owls among you will be inconvenienced by the closure. Another closure, however, that could create problems for tour operators and tour guides is that of the Xunantunich ferry. The Department of Archaeology says the ferry in San Jose Succotz Village will be closed from this Friday until next Tuesday for urgent repairs.
