Police in Dangriga Piecing the Puzzle of Latest Murders Together

There have also been a number of crimes over the past few weeks in Dangriga. Commissioner Williams said that while there are gangs operating in Dangriga, the investigations into the recent incidents do not reflect that they were gang-related.

“In the first case with the stabbing, these were persons who were friends and they had some argument and that argument eventually led to the stabbing death of one of the individuals. Again, I don’t see how policing could have prevented that from occurring. And in the second incident that occurred the night before (last) again, based on what investigators are getting, these persons were neighbours, they were friends and we don’t know what happened between them that led to the shooting death of the young man, but investigators are on the ground, they are putting the pieces together and hopefully, pretty soon we should be able to make an arrest. In both instances in Dangriga we believe that we know who the persons are. We have heard of “wet drops” in the south. This was about two weeks ago. I can tell you that the police did find two packs of cocaine along the coast of the Stann Creek District. One was in Seine Bight and the other was near Hopkins, so we know that there was a “wet drop,” but at this time we have nothing to indicate that these persons are related to the lasts incidents are connected to any wet drop, but there could be a possibility. We still can’t understand so quickly how friends could become enemies to the extent that one is taking the life of another, so it’s something that we’re looking at.”
