WAVE FM on the air
A trio of veteran broadcasters and some relative newcomers are hoping they can ride the tide of public affection and sweep the Belize City radio audience off its feet. WAVE FM 105.9 officially hit the airwaves yesterday at six a.m. and today News Five spoke with General Manager Brian Mossiah and announcer Ed Yorke about the station, its format and how they intend to attract listeners.
After the closure of the B.C.B. announcers Brian Mossiah, Adrian Harris and Ed Yorke felt there was something missing on the airwaves. So they teamed up to form Belize’s newest radio station, WAVE 105.9 FM Owner and General Manager, Brian Mossiah says the primary focus of WAVE is to entertain through music. He says the format of the station will include North American, Caribbean and of course local music. There has been speculation that WAVE is being financed by the United Democratic Party. However, Mossiah says that the station is no way associated with any political party.

“Yes WAVE will be highly interactive. We, on a daily basis, will do our level best to bring to the forefront issues that are current for discussion. If by chance it happens to be a political topic we will raise that issue all the same.
The foundation which we will survive has to be finance. So we will be charging whichever party: red, blue, pink or green for our services and those services will be second to none. Not one individual as a presenter of this radio station will have any long political discussion to suit anyone or so many parties.”
One of Belize’s well known broadcasters Ed Yorke who has not been on air as a radio personality since 1992 told News Five how it feels to be back.
Ed Yorke, Broadcaster, WAVE FM
“Well the experience of seeing the whole thing come together is rather gratifying. I feel good having been a part of the whole stages to where we are right now. I am sure that it can only get better. With the group of that I am working with its no problem at all. A good experience and it should get better.
