Hotel employees detained by Immigration Department

The Immigration Department is cracking down on those working illegally in Belize. Three Mexican men, all contract workers at the Fiesta Inn were detained by the department today because they failed to produce work permits. Then shortly after, the department made its way to the Belize Biltmore Plaza where one person was taken into custody for not having proper documents to remain in the country. The Department of Immigration in Belmopan told News Five they are not specifically targeting hotels, but said that whenever someone enters Belize they must give an address where they will be staying. The department says after checking the addresses of those investigated today it was found that they were not on vacation but were instead working without the proper documents.
