Keon Dennison Gets Life Sentence for 2015 Murder of a Businessman
Justice Ricardo Sandcroft handed down another life sentence. This time it was imposed on twenty-four-year-old Keon Dennison, who was charged for the murder of businessman Rueben Perez. Back in November 2015, Perez was executed inside his office on Vernon Street in Belize City. Following the murder, Dennison, who is originally from Dangriga, was charged for the crime. He has been on remand for almost five years. In May of this year, in a trial by judge without jury, Justice Sandcroft found him guilty of the crime. Today, at the sentence hearing, Dennison was given life in prison, with the possibility of parole in twenty-five years. Due to the time that he has been on remand, five years was shaved off the parole time, so after twenty more years in jail he will become eligible for parole.
