Newborn found in Belmopan trash bin
Saturday afternoon Belmopan Police officers responded to many phone calls about blood on the floor of a public bathroom at the Belmopan Market Square. After they conducted a search of the area, they found a plastic bag containing a pair of jeans soaked in blood. To their horror the officers then found another plastic bag in a nearby trash can and this contained a new born baby girl. The infant was still breathing and was rushed to the Belmopan Hospital. Police say a joint investigation between Belmopan and Dangriga police led to the arrest of an eighteen year old girl Kimberly Flores and her sister Beverly Flores who was reportedly with Kimberly at the time of the incident. Kimberly was admitted to the Dangriga Hospital. The baby remains at the Belmopan Hospital in a stable condition. Police say they are investigating.
