Cathedral sponsors Living Nativity
The roof of the St. John’s Cathedral is in need of urgent repairs. The work is estimated at over one hundred and fifty thousand dollars. The restoration committee is therefore holding its third annual Living Nativity Christmas Choral Concert this Sunday in order to raise funds.
Sistie Harmes, Coordinator, Living Nativity
“It’s mainly to put people in the spirit for Christmas and also at the same time to raise some money for the restoration of St. John’s Cathedral which I think belong to all Belizeans and everybody should help to keep it in good shape. We have several choirs taking part. We’ll have over a hundred singers, about forty dancers and musicians. After the concert on the main stage there is a candlelight procession that goes to the Living Nativity. There we have Mary and Joseph, the shepherds, the angels and the three kings and a live baby Jesus.”
Taking part in the event Sunday will be the Belize National Dance Company, Vista Dance Company, the Belize Choral Society and the Methodist Praise Singers. The program begins at seven p.m. at the Government House grounds. Tickets cost only ten dollars and are available at the Belize Bookshop, YWCA and Douglas Fairweather Pharmacy.
