More Rains Expected With Approaching Tropical Wave
Some areas across the Belize District experienced over two inches of rain over the weekend, due to a tropical wave that passed over the country. And while most of the country experienced some relief from the rains today, another tropical storm is expected to cross over Belize on Tuesday afternoon. According to Meteorologist Derrick Rudon, this forecasted system is expected to affect mostly the southern part of the country. He spoke with us over the phone.

“Over the weekend, we had some unsettled weather. The trough of low pressure went through at the lower levels and the upper levels were supporting it. And, we had enough moisture. We had abundant moisture, especially on Sunday. That resulted in some outbreak and thunderstorms, especially over the Belize District on Sunday morning. We have two stations in Belize City, the municipal airport got about two and a half inches in that three hours between seven a.m. and maybe ten. So, they got about two and a half inches. Port of Belize got less. The rainy season, we expect this type of weather to happen. Most days during the season we have like a few showers. So, Belize City got the brunt of it that morning, the Sunday morning. Tell us what we can expect coming out of the weekend into the next few days. Ok, so we have another tropical wave that we are expecting to cross sometime tomorrow evening. That is going to affect us starting tomorrow. So, we are expecting again a few showers, maybe more, a few showers and thunder storms on Tuesday and Wednesday. Then, Thursday we are expecting the showers to decrease. Friday should be the best day out of the next four days.”
