Orange Walk farmer wins Courts drawing

All he wanted in October was the twenty-seven inch television from the Courts branch in Orange Walk, but this morning a cane farmer from the San Estevan Village in Orange Walk went to the Courts Belize City branch to claim his prize of twenty thousand dollars in the Courts Serious Cash drawing.

“Well the phone call came Saturday about eleven o’clock. I really did not know anything about it. Ms. Bennett called me and played a trick on me. She told me I was backed up with arrears and then I told her that wasn’t true. Then she told me to take a deep breath because I was the lucky winner of $20,000 Courts cash prize.

I don’t know if you are aware that the cane price is low. I will take the bank off my back because I owe the bank money and it is going straight to the bank.”

Vasquez says he entered eighty-one tickets for the Courts Serious Cash draw. Ana Marie Bennett, the Advertising and Promotion Executive for Courts Belize says the next draw will be for fifty thousand dollars at the end of this month and that Courts is thinking about bigger and better things for the new year.
