U.D.P. Continues to Operate in Disarray

The United Democratic Party continues to operate in complete disarray. It would appear that a most recent truce between the elected members of the party has all but fizzled away. Former U.D.P. Leader Patrick Faber took to Facebook page last night to accuse his party leader, Moses ‘Shyne’ Barrow, of threatening him. While the nature of the threats were not stated, Faber went on to say “I am not now or not ever a P.U.P. All who demand you do things according to the constitution and don’t agree with your wrong ways are not P.U.P.”. Also over the last twenty-four hours, U.D.P. Area Representative for Albert, Tracey Panton took to social media to make these comments and we quote, unity can only be forged if we respect the organization we represent; if we respect the rules that govern our institution; and, if we are willing to demonstrate, in a meaningful and genuine way, mutual respect for each other, unquote. Along with his Facebook comments, Faber also shared an ad produced by now expelled U.D.P. member, Delroy Cuthkelvin.  Here is that ad, as well as Cuthkelvin’s comments on the governance of the U.D.P. in a recent interview with him.

Delroy Cuthkelvin, Expelled from the U.D.P.

“For all of us who are a part of the U.D.P. in terms of the structure of the party and in terms of promoting the party, it is incumbent on us to fix the things that went wrong. So when certain people like myself say certain things and write certain things, we do so because we want the party to get back to what then party stands for, to the foundational principles of the party. And, when a leader behaves the way the current leader has been behaving the moment he got into office, to remove from the Central Executive over half of the people who were sitting on the Central Executive, you start off in a way that is not fostering and forging the kind of unity that is needed for the party to be at its most formidable.”
