“We hope that, you know, we’ll have an exciting and dynamic celebration this year.  I know people have been locked up for two years, they’ve not been able to fully enjoy the national celebrations.  So I think everybody is collectively looking forward to this year’s celebrations, people want to be a part of it.  So I think we have some exciting events planned.  Of course, we have the usual traditional events on the September Celebrations calendar, the September Tenth, September Twenty-first Independence Day activities.  But this year, of course, carnival is back.  As the association says, “We’re back on the road.”  So I think a lot of Belizeans are looking forward to that.  That is scheduled, I believe, around September third, here in Belize City.  So, you know, the bands are excited, we are giving them as much support as we can.  So I think that will be an exciting day for Belizeans.  We also, of course, have events like the Tribute to Belizean Patriots, the National Awards.  But very importantly, some of the new, innovative activities that we launched last year which were largely virtual, this year we are hoping to have a bigger audience for those activities.  The panel discussion in collaboration with the University of Belize to talk about the state of our nation.”
