Two Men Remanded on Charge of Robbery
Tonight, two fishermen of Belize City are spending their first night on remand after they were charged in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court for the robbery of a maintenance worker. Thirty-year-old Stanley Wade, of a Faber’s Road address and thirty-one-year-old Eugene Fraser of West Canal were denied bail. The allegation is that on Saturday, the pair used a gun to steal a Samsung cell phone valued at four hundred and fifty dollars, along with five hundred dollars in cash from fifty-three-year-old Floyd Smith. The two accused men pleaded not guilty to the charge and were denied bail until October twenty-fourth. In a report to police, Smith stated that on the night in question, he was standing in front of a Chinese shop in front of Youth for the Future Drive when two men riding bicycles approached him and one of them pulled out a handgun and pointed it at him, while the other searched his pants pocket and stole his cell phone and money, after which they rode off towards the Conch Shell Bay area.
