Bus overturns, 24 passengers unhurt

Story Picture
It looked a lot worse than it really was, but twenty-four occupants of a bus on the Northern Highway still received a nasty scare as they neared the Haulover Bridge.

The bus was traveling from Sarteneja to Belize City shortly before eight this morning. While taking the curve at mile six the front left tire blew out.

Yadir Perez, Conductor

“The bus had a puncture and the driver can’t control it.”

So the bus, with driver Normando Perez, conductor Yadir Perez and twenty-two passengers skidded off the wet road and turned on its side. Fortunately, there were no injuries and the Sartenejans were carried into town by a passing Novelo’s Bus.

Reports are that the bus, which was not believed to be speeding, was simply the victim of the curve, wet pavement, and bad timing of the blowout.
