B&B Security Guard Charged for Stealing 15 Boxes of Smirnoff
A security guard employed by the Belize Brewing Company has been charged for stealing fifteen cases of Smirnoff from the compound in Ladyville. Thirty-year-old Phillip James Lopez is accused of making off with the boxes, each valued at seventy-eight dollars. The theft allegedly occurred over the weekend and was captured on surveillance camera. This morning, the resident of Central American Boulevard appeared in Magistrate’s Court Number Three where he was read a single charge of theft. The combined value of the stolen boxes of Smirnoff amounts to one thousand, one hundred and seventy dollars. In court, prosecutors did not object to bail which was granted in the sum of one thousand, five hundred dollars, plus one surety of the same amount. At four o’clock this evening, Lopez was unable to meet bail and has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison until he is able to do so. He is scheduled to return to court on October twenty-eighth.
