Hit and run kills teen in Hattieville

A fifteen year old bicyclist was killed on the spot Saturday when he was knocked down by a pickup truck on the Western Highway. Tommy Lee Banner of Hattieville was riding along with Antonio Banner and Frederick Gordon, heading west between mile fifteen and sixteen, when he was struck from behind by an Isuzu pickup driven by eighteen year old Carlos Can of Benque Viejo. Banner received fatal injuries to the head while his two companions, who were also knocked off their bikes, were treated and released from Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Accounts differ as to how the accident happened and Can has been detained by police pending charges.
