A Woman is Attacked with a Hammer by Her Ex-common-law Husband

Twenty-nine-year-old Mindy Novelo was viciously attacked with a hammer over the weekend by her ex-common-law husband.  The incident happened after five p.m. on Saturday evening in the community of Corozalito while Novelo was walking home with her children.  Forty-four-year-old Edin Chi reportedly charged at the woman and inflicted multiple injuries on her using the hammer.

“Mindy Novelo reported that she was in that area of Corozalito in the Cayo District when she was approached by her ex-common law [husband] Edin Chi who attacked her with a hammer and inflicted several injuries to her.  Thankfully, persons in the area assisted her and this person was detained and she was taken to the hospital for treatment.  She was treated and the injuries were classified as grievous harm. Edin Chi has now been charged for grievous harm, use of deadly means of harm attempted murder.  He was taken to court.”
