Salvation Army introduces miniature kettles
The Salvation Army has released its schedule of activities for November and December. Next Friday they will launch their annual Red Kettle Appeal, but this year there will be a new twist. In addition to kettles in front of business houses and volunteers ringing bells, miniature kettles will be placed in banks and offices throughout Belize. Last year the Salvation Army took in forty thousand dollars during their drive and they hope to increase this to sixty thousand with the smaller kettles. The funds are used for the Salvation Army’s activities throughout the year. During the Christmas season these include visits to the sick and elderly, a Christmas party for children and a holiday dinner for the homeless. According to Captain Stanley Griffin the Salvation Army in Belize receives ninety five percent of its funding from donations and other local sources.
