Reef exhibit arrives
The arrival of a Smithsonian Institute traveling exhibition to Belize has been delayed by not one, but two hurricanes. First, it was Hurricane Georges’ forced closure of the airport in Miami that kept the Smithsonian from bringing its Barrier Reef exhibit on schedule last month. Then just as things were returning to normal, Hurricane Mitch made his appearance. But despite their bad luck with transportation, the Belize Audubon Society is now able to invite the public to view the display called “Our Reef; Caribbean Connections” next week when it opens at the St. John’s College Gymnasium. The official opening will be on Thursday November twelfth and the exhibition will run until December eighteenth in the city. The international bilingual exhibit then travels to Belmopan and Corozal.
