Was Marcelina Makin Sexually Assaulted & Killed?
A post-mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted on the body of Marcelina Makin, a resident of southern Belize, whose decomposing body was discovered on a tomb inside the Independence Cemetery. There are reports that Makin may have been sexually assaulted before her life was taken. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams gave an update saying that a post-mortem will clarify all these questions and more.

“I know that the body has been identified as that of a waitress. I don’t think we have made any significant progress with the investigation. Investigators are still out trying to gather as much as they can. We need to start off from when she was last seen, who she was seen with, where if anything she went, with who she went. So these are things that we are trying to get the answers for now and hopefully that will be able to give us some lead in respect to the matter. We also need to look at her. If she had a boyfriend, if there is some possibility that it could have been him. So there are things that we looking at to try and get to the bottom of that.”
“Sir, when I was there yesterday. They had some people that there is the possibility that she may have been sexually assaulted. Is there anything that you have gathered from the investigators to suggest that that may have happened as well?”
Chester Williams
“That would have to be determined at the post-mortem stage. At this time we cannot say if that is so, but we are hearing that it is so, but no one can confirm that at this time.”
