Sports Monday with James Adderley
Good evening, I’m James Adderley and as we stare Hurricane Mitch in the eye, here’s another version of Sports Monday. Yesterday’s B.F.L. showdown at the M.C.C. Grounds brought the struggling Juventus Benqueña to a face off with Acros of Belize City.
It’s the visitors who’re off to the quick start looking for goal from this spotkick and John Brooks dives and saves. Downfield number 7 Buch fires from off the right wing but goalkeeper Neal stays with the case. Number 6 Kelly then points this individual effort but Neal stands firm. However, the first real break of the ballgame comes when number 8 Cunningham gets set up perfectly by Puntus Gentle but this can only be described as major league squandering. Talk about complicating the play folks. That’s exactly what qoalkeeper Neal does, but he gets away with it.
This time it’s Mark Leslie on the move but can you believe this extreme lack of finish. Peter Jones then launches this long distance delivery that crashes against the crossbar but at the half the scoreboard remains unpossessed by either ball clubs.
In second half action the Acros team continues with its inability to define the ballgame as demonstrated by Mark Leslie. For Jube, Ernesto Lisby fires this bomb at Brooks who makes a big time save. Lisby again tries to move his team with this turn around left foot but again Brooks saves. Going for the win, Julio Santos fires for Acros but the ball inches over the stick. Is this a penalty kick when Cunningham gets taken down inside the box? Ruperto Vicente says no, which leads to the nil-nil final score.
That’s it. I’m James Adderley. Jah over all.
And that’s the news. I’m Jacqueline Woods. Thanks for joining us and I really hope to be back with you tomorrow night. But if that is not possible God speed to all. From all of us here at News Five, good night.
