Transport Minister Weighs In On Court Ruling
As we reported last Thursday, the Supreme Court has granted the proprietors of James Bus Line leave for judicial review against the Department of Transport and Floralia Bus Company. The decision came after legal arguments were made on behalf of James Bus Line to the effect that the insertion of Floralia into the southern schedule has caused negative effect on James Bus Line’s revenues. Today, Minister of Transport, Rodwell Ferguson was not fazed by the ruling, but he said that everyone must abide by what the court orders.

“We live in a democratic country and they have the right to take any matter to the court. Let us see what will be the court’s decision and we as a democratic country, we have to abide by the decision of the court. I am doing everything to try and promote the operators. I am thinking that I am the only Minister of Transportation over the last forty years who has met with the operators every month or twice a month to figure out how they can get incorporated into the whole change. But I mention my position that change must come and I will do everything possible to try and help them to get a loan for the change.”
