P.D.P. elects new leader
In political news one of Belize’s minor electoral forces, that is the People’s Democratic Party, today announced the names of its recently elected party officials. According to a release, at a meeting which occurred on September fourth, P.D.P. members gathered in the wake of their crushing electoral defeat and voted in a new slate of officers which includes Ivan Roberts as Party Leader, Joe Sosa as deputy leader, Lisburn Peters: treasurer and Enrique Silva: chairman. Marilyn Pollard serves as secretary. These five people, along with three other unsuccessful candidates will form the nucleus of the party’s leadership which will try to gear up for the next national elections in the year 2003. According to statistics, they’ve got no where to go but up. Out of some eighty-five thousand total votes cast in the August elections the P.D.P. received a little over two hundred.
