Minister of Culture Says September Celebrations Went Well
The September celebrations this year returned to normalcy, or as close to what it was in pre-COVID times, and the Minister of Culture believes that Belizeans embraced it well. Minister Francis Fonseca told reporters today that he is pleased with how everything celebrations-related went.
Francis Fonseca, Minister of Culture
“We saw large crowds at every event, so I think that people were waiting to burst out after two years of being locked up and not being able to participate in these September activities. We saw huge crowds everywhere. I can tell you, for example, the Pan Yaad, we had – originally we printed about eight hundred tickets and those sold out in like forty-eight hours. We had to print another four hundred tickets. So people were eager to participate, and I think across the country. We had great success with our mural project, great success I think with the UB State of the Nation forum – panel discussion. The awards – we recognized some outstanding Belizeans like Pen Cayetano and Bredda David. So I think overall, as the Chairman of the September Celebrations Commission I feel very satisfied that everything went well and we’re grateful that there were not many incidents.”
