B.T.L. Optimizes Its Internet-based Services
In breaking down the company’s financial performance, Chief Executive Officer Ivan Tesucum acknowledged that there is a growing shift away from established services such as the use of a regular line to place phone calls. More customers are using internet-based services for making phone calls, as well as streaming online content. On the other hand, the introduction of B.T.L.’s Digi Wallet is expected to grow the company’s revenues.
Ivan Tesucum, Chief Executive Officer, B.T.L.
“We need to grow our revenues. The assets that we had built that go back to 2016 when we were the first to launch the LTE advanced network in this region to then the fiber-to-the- home covering over ninety percent and being the only fiber-to-the-home provider in the country of Belize requires us to continue to grow those revenues via monetizing that investment. We need to increase EBITDA, our operational cash flow and this is necessary for us to be as efficient as possible, able to increase our earnings to our shareholders and importantly continue to use that cash flow for us to make capital investments. We do know that our core telecom revenues are being attacked from every angle, more than likely you’ve received phone calls via Whatsapp more than what you see on your regular line or you watch TV over OTT more than over regular TV or cable TV. So the fifth one is that we need to diversify revenues from our core telecom and we need to expand into these noncore telecom and we are happy to announce that one of those important achievements was Digi Wallet which will help us to grow our revenues. Secondly, in this new fiscal year that we have now entered we are happy to announce that we are now a content provider.”
