Sports Monday with James Addderley
Good evening, I’m James Adderley and welcome to this edition of Sports Monday. The BTL football season so far has been unkind to the city team named Acros who made its homestand at the MCC grounds yesterday, still looking for win number one. The opponent first happened to be the unpredictable Dangriga Jaguars looking for win number two.
It’s five minutes deep when the Buzzard Pandy lifts this ball right side and Eldrid Puntus Gentle kisses the grass as the ball tangles between the sticks to give Acros a one-zip lead.
Acros could make it nil on this pass but the clutch shot from number seven sails high.
Sometimes folks your mistakes do cost you big time and when the Dangriga defense mis-kicks, it sets up an easy goal for number seven…and it is Acros with a two-nil lead.
However Dangriga comes back when number nine beats John Brooks to the pelota and its a two-one ballgame
But before the Dangriga fans could complete their goal dance their defense gives up this open look to number seven…and he crushes it home to give the city club a three-one custody to take to the locker room.
Coming out of intermission the Dangriga keeper comes up with this big time save and maybe he should try this more often.
Talk about intensity people, it’s so thick on the field that you simply can’t recognize if this is football and maybe John Trapp is either injury prone or he is a marked man.
Nevertheless this fires up the Southern Stars and they attack off this corner kick only to see the cross bar defend Acros against a vicious header.
For the Dangriga goalie this save almost sends him out of the ballgame when a heel smashes his head – but he survives.
Still Dangriga stays on the attack and this launch from the right side seems problamatic for john Brooks but the ball…out of the box.
It’s Buck again looking to shake Dangriga up but his effort is thwarted by the best save of the ballgame for the keeper.
At the other end John Brooks shows that he can handle between the sticks when he saves this header from point blank range to deny Dangriga.
Talk about bad thing people, the Dangriga team does everything right but the ball simply refuses to go into the net.
The final blow falls on Dangriga when Puntus Gentle finds the goalkeeper too far out of his hoal and sends the ball into the net. Acros goes on to post the four-one big win.
In other football news, defending champions, Juventus crushed Real Verdes five-one, Sejitun and Belmopan Bandits settled for a one-one draw, La Victoria clipped Southern United two-one while out west Yabra fought Jube to a one-one draw.
