Robbers hold-up Orange Walk housewife
While police in Belmopan track down an alleged murderer, in Orange Walk, the search continues for two men who held up a thirty-three year old housewife. According to police, Reina Romero told them that she and her three year old daughter were at home around one thirty Thursday afternoon when two men, one of them armed with a handgun, entered her house. Romero says she and her daughter were ordered to sit on a sofa, guarded by one of the men, while the other searched the house. Romero reported to police that the robber found her ATM card, and that she was forced to hand over her secret pin number. Armed with the card and access code, one of the men then left the house, presumably to make a withdrawal and returned thirty minutes later. When the robbers left the house, police say they did not go empty handed. Items valued at a hundred and forty dollars and three hundred dollars in cash were taken. Police say that when Romero checked with the bank, she discovered that the robbers had withdrawn two hundred and fifty dollars from her account. Romero’s only description of her assailants is that they are of Hispanic descent and had their faces painted black. Police are investigating.
