Domestic dispute leaves girl fighting for her life

A Belize City teenager is hospitalized in serious condition after she was shot in the abdomen. According to police reports sixteen year old Keiva Leslie was shot by another teenager, Kenrick Nuñez. Police say the two had apparently been in a relationship which was going sour. Nuñez it is reported, went to Leslie’s home on Mahogany Street Extension around ten-thirty last night, armed with a handgun. He reportedly placed the gun to Leslie’s foot and accused her of walking too much. Police say Nuñez cocked the gun a second time as he moved to the girl’s left side at which time the weapon went off, wounding Leslie. At last report she was listed in serious condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Police have since detained Nuñez pending the outcome of their investigation.
