Meet Doctors Said Musa and Lord Rhaburn
On Saturday, former Prime Minister Said Musa and legendary musician Lord Rhaburn were conferred honorary degrees by the University of Belize during its commencement exercise. The academic degree for which UB waived all the usual requirements were bestowed upon both distinguished gentlemen for their contributions to the Belizean society, in the areas of politics and music, respectively. While Lord Rhaburn was able to attend the graduation ceremony, Right Honorable Said Musa who is still recovering from illness was unable to be there. Standing in for him and accepting the recognition on his behalf was his son, Kareem Musa. This morning, Musa spoke with us about the honor conferred on his father.
Kareem Musa, Son of Said Musa
“It was truly and definitely a special moment for me as minister to be there with all the graduates, but also as a proud son, to be there on behalf of my father to receive this very well-deserved distinction from our national university. And, as the Right Honorable, Dr. Said Musa said, no Harvard, no Cambridge honor could even match up to an honor like this, coming from the University of Belize. So we are very grateful as a family for this recognition and of course he is extremely grateful.”
