Nine “Long Weekends” in 2023

The schedule of public and bank holidays for 2023 has been made official.  A release from the Ministry of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries earlier today indicates that as many as fourteen days on the upcoming calendar have been designated for festivities and recreation.  With the exception of Easter, there is a total of nine extended weekends to look forward to next year, beginning with New Year’s Day which will be celebrated on Monday, January second.  Two weeks later, the nation will also celebrate George Price Day on Monday, January sixteenth.  National Heroes and Benefactors Day will be observed on Monday, March sixth.  Easter weekend will be celebrated from April seventh to the tenth and Labor Day will be commemorated on Monday, May first.  Since St. George’s Caye Day falls on a Sunday next year, the holiday will be celebrated on Monday, September eleventh.  Independence Day will be observed on Thursday, September twenty-first, while Indigenous People’s Resistance Day, a few weeks later, will be held on Monday, October ninth.  Garifuna Settlement Day, popularly known as the Nineteenth, will be celebrated next year on Monday, November twentieth.  Christmas and Boxing Day will be on Monday and Tuesday, December twenty-fifth and twenty-sixth, respectively.
